Twenty nine Roma were massacred and buried in a mass grave in the forest. Their remains were exhumed in 1959 and re-buried in a local cemetery in an unmarked grave. The Roma were the first race to be subjected to experimentation by the Nazis, as part of Joseph Goebbels' 'Final Solution'.
