The famous impressionist painter who lived in this town on the outskirts of Paris, during the 1870's. His home faces the railway station, and is a ten minute walk from the Seine river, and the town centre. He painted many of his most memorable pictures nearby his house, on the riverbanks, of the railway station, bridges around the town and Argenteuil basin.
