May 18, 2013, Tahiti Airport, French Polynesia: Oscar Temaru, the old defeated president of French Polynesia, returning to Tahiti, met at the airport and surrounded by his supporters of his political party Tavinihuiratira. Temaru was succesful in reinstating French Polynesia onto the list of decolonilized countries, which was voted by the United Nations But this move he made without consulting the majority of the French Polynesian people, whom in fact are mostly against the idea of independence from France. Oscar Temaru's party lost the last elections which took place on 5th May 2013. 75% of the population voted for the opposition parties Taoreahuiratira and A Tia Porineta who are now in government and oppose independence.
