• DAYAK EATING MALAYSIA. Sarawak, Borneo, South East Asia. Eating food from the forest. Tropical rainforest and one of the world's richest, oldest eco-systems, flora and fauna, under threat from development, logging and deforestation. Home to indigenous Dayak native tribal peoples, farming by slash and burn cultivation, fishing and hunting wild boar. Home to the Penan, traditional nomadic hunter-gatherers, of whom only one thousand survive, eating roots, and hunting wild animals with blowpipes. Animists, Christians, they still practice traditional medicine from herbs and plants. Native people have mounted protests and blockades against logging concessions, many have been arrested and imprisoned.

 • South East Asia, Cambodia, Phnom Penh. Khmer families and children love their pet dogs, and would never eat them

Whilst some people eat dog meat, it is not commonplace. But it is a poorman's meat as it is a cheaper than beef, pork or chicken. The practice of hunting and catching stray dogs is common place, and sometimes even poaching domestic dogs. The Khmer prefer wild dog to 'farm' grown dogs. However the dogs are often treated inhumanely, and killed by strangulation or even boiled alive. It is thought by some that a dog filled with fear makes better meat. The animal is shaved and butchered. Favorite khmer dishes include dog paw curry and dog's head.

Dog meat is eaten all over the world. An estimated 25 million dogs are eaten every year. For some societies eating dog is taboo, for others its acceptable.

 • Woman eating icecream whilst watching the bullfighting. Bullfighting in Sevilla's famous bullring "La Real Maestranza" is a significant part of the Feria de Abril..The Feria de abril de Sevilla, "Seville April Fair" dates back to 1847. During the 1920s, the feria reached its peak and became the spectacle that it is today. It is held in the Andalusian capital of Seville in Spain. The fair generally begins two weeks after the Semana Santa, Easter Holy Week. The fair officially begins at midnight on Monday, and runs six days, ending on the following Sunday. Each day the fiesta begins with the parade of carriages and riders, at midday, carrying Seville's citizens to the bullring, La Real Maestranza...For the duration of the fair, the fairgrounds and a vast area on the far bank of the Guadalquivir River are covered in rows of casetas (individual decorated marquee tents which are temporarily built on the fairground). Some of these casetas belong to the prominent families of Seville, some to groups of friends, clubs, trade associations or political parties. From around nine at night until six or seven the following morning, at first in the streets and later only within each caseta, crowds of people party and dance Sevillanas, traditional Flamenco dances, Sevillan style drinking Jerez sherry, or Manzanilla wine, and eating tapas. ..

 • Bunroeun at home, eating with his family, his grandmother, cousin and textile workers..A Khmer boy learns to play classical violin at the college of Beaux Arts, at the edge of Cambodia's capital, Phnom Penh. He is an orphan and comes from a poor family. His parents died long ago, from AIDS related diseases. He lives with his grandmother and his uncle, and their family. He lives on the top floor of an apartment block, where his family run a textile business, sewing together clothes and ornamental flags from around the world. A dozen young women work in this textile business, and the boy's home space is actually amidst this small factory environment which he shares with them. They eat, work and play together like an extended family or community. Phnom Penh, Cambodia

 • DAYAK COOKING MALAYSIA. Sarawak, Borneo, South East Asia. Preparing food from the forest.
